Great job by the @petalumapolicedepartment
Here is a some great information from @petalumapolicedepartment for people who have family members who suffer from Dementia
Repost from @petalumapolicedepartment check them out
Dementia and Alzheimer’s are very serious diseases which impair an individual’s cognition and memory putting them at risk. Recently our officers responded to a call that an elderly gentleman was recklessly driving in a vehicle that was missing an entire front wheel and emitting sparks. Upon contact, it was identified that the elderly man suffers from dementia and was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital for medical treatment and safety. The family was notified for reunification.
We are grateful to the community member who called in the unsafe driving and want the public to know that the Petaluma Police Department has a SAFE RETURN program specifically designed to register family or friends who suffer from any kind of memory loss that might put them in danger. The Safe Return program registration form is free and can be downloaded from our website. This program is aligned with the Alzheimer’s Association and is HIPA compliant for privacy.
Always call 9-1-1 to report an emergency.
